SHARE FAIR---Community Outreach for
Immigrant Families
Annually on Once a year---Either in September or March , 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Location: Madison County Tech Center
Significance: Local
Grade Level: K-12
Sponsored by: Madison County Schools--English Language Learners Depart.
Contact: Donna Dunaway, 256-533-7494, donna@everrhythms.com
Comments: The English Language Learners Department is hosting a community outreach to all the immigrant families of Madison County schools. The purpose of the SHARE FAIR is to build rapport with the families within the school community. Additionally, Huntsville organizations will have booths to share resources with the families. The donation request is for 1-3 computers to give away to the immigrant families. The computers--(almost new or brand new) would need everything in the package to set up in a home. (including any cords, ink, printer, etc) The computer will serve as a powerful educational tool and used for parents learning the English Language for free on-line at their convenience due to most of these families having only one vehicle. (there are some free English classes in Huntsville, but not in the rural areas. I have only found one location in the county that offers free English classes. Our focus is to be pro-active in meeting the needs of this fast growing population. The computers will also aid in helping pre-schoolers in school readiness skills. Thus giving the pre-schoolers an opportunity to learn some skills before they arrive for kindergarten. Thanks for your consideration.
